Overseen by Dr. Brad Ross, Professor of Practice, Mining Engineering, Cole Cashin, Tony Holmes, Chad Julius, Gabriella Archunde, and Will Peterson used Hexagon\u2019s MinePlan software to help complete their task of designing a sand and gravel mine.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Hexagon\u2019s Jose Sanchez, the students discussed their award-winning design.<\/p>\n<p><!-- The script tag should live in the head of your page if at all possible --><script type=\"text\/javascript\" async src=\"https:\/\/play.vidyard.com\/embed\/v4.js\"><\/script><!-- Put this wherever you would like your player to appear --><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vidyard-player-embed\" style=\"width: 100%; margin: auto; display: block;\" src=\"https:\/\/play.vidyard.com\/gt2EV8LtoM64MNNbNFnVzG.jpg\" data-uuid=\"gt2EV8LtoM64MNNbNFnVzG\" data-v=\"4\" data-type=\"inline\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The team used a wide range of tools from HxGn MinePlan\u2019s Geology, Engineering and Production suites. The tools helped them design high quality models for their project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething that really stood out to the judges was the quality of our models,\u201d Cashin said. \u201cWe received a lot of compliments from those who enjoy the engineering and technical side. A lot of compliments on the 3D models, the block model and pit model as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Erik Anderson, a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer at Hexagon, mentored the team and helped them learn the ins and outs of the software.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaulage was another huge tool we used this year, which Erik trained us on,\u201d Cashin said. \u201cWe could run haulage to get a whole table of data and plug it in where we need it.
