The Drillhole Correlation Tool is the latest enhancement to MineSight, our comprehensive mine planning and modeling software suite. You\u2019ll find it integrated with MineSight Torque, our drillhole database manager.<\/p>\n

The tool helps geologists to correlate stratigraphy and lithology layers using Torque drillhole data. Using assay, geology and geophysical information displayed in the tool, the geologist creates one or more intercept points to eventually form strata Intersections along drillholes.<\/p>\n

The drillholes are projected vertically and can be moved so that corresponding layers are aligned horizontally. The resulting intersections are uploaded to Torque as intervals for further analysis and use with other applications.<\/p>\n

Better integration for managing drillholes<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The tool integrates with MineSight 3D<\/a> for managing sets of drillholes to be used for correlation. Regular users will know MineSight 3D is the foundation of our mine planning suite and visualizes output from all <\/span>MineSight<\/span> products. Its core functionality includes creating and manipulating 2D and 3D data, editing, querying, and plotting\/display of all types of geology and mining data.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the geologist creates and edits intersection points, the Drillhole Correlation Tool uses an intuitive set of rules to automatically connect them to display strata sections. For complex strata formations, such as bifurcations and pinches, the geologist creates explicit connections between intercept points or marks intersections as pinches.<\/p>\n

The Drillhole Correlation Tool includes a basic set of validation rules that warn the user when intersections overlap and when intercepts are inconsistently flagged as pinches in different drillhole sets. The strata statistics report can be used to obtain descriptive statistics on strata.<\/p>\n

The tool stores its own data in a local file. However, because it integrates with Torque, the user roles and security model of Torque is also applied when accessing data or uploading strata.<\/p>\n

Help for modeling seam deposits<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Drillhole Correlation Tool responds to a request from stratigraphic clients seeking this functionality to better model their deposits. It fills a gap in our planning portfolio for modeling seam deposits, such as iron and coal, and will certainly help any customer working with coal and stratigraphic deposits.<\/p>\n

The tool is included with MineSight.\u00a0Any user with a MineSight license can visualize the correlation plots. However, users must have a Torque license to create new sections.<\/p>\n
