What’s new in MinePlan: faster scenario planning, streamlined model coding, and improved performance

Mining teams are under constant pressure to evaluate more options, make decisions faster, and extract greater value from increasingly complex datasets. Whether optimising schedules, managing block models, or assessing project outcomes, efficiency matters.

The latest MinePlan release introduces new capabilities designed to simplify scenario evaluation, modernise model calculation workflows, and improve performance across key applications. Together, these enhancements help planners and engineers spend less time managing processes and more time generating insights.

Scenario Management in MinePlan Schedule Optimiser 14.5 allows users to create and manage multiple scheduling scenarios within a single project environment.

Evaluate more scenarios with less effort

One of the most significant additions in this release is Scenario Management in Schedule Optimiser 14.5.

Traditionally, testing multiple scheduling alternatives often meant creating and maintaining duplicate projects. As the number of scenarios increased, so did the administrative burden and the risk of inconsistencies between project versions.

With the new Scenario Management capability, users can create and manage multiple scheduling scenarios within a single project environment. Configuration settings are defined directly within core workflows, while scenario-specific histories are preserved for future reference.

The functionality is available across:

  • Material Mapping
  • Tonnage Constraints
  • Grade Constraints

By keeping scenarios together within one project, planning teams can compare alternatives more efficiently, reduce duplication, and accelerate schedule optimisation workflows.

The newly released Model Calculation & Coding Tool (MCCT) v1.0 enables more sophisticated calculations directly within the model environment.

Modernising block model calculations with the Model Calculation & Coding Tool

This release also introduces the Model Calculation & Coding Tool (MCCT) v1.0, a major step forward in block model workflows. For many operations, model calculations and coding have traditionally relied on file15 and basis-file processes that require multiple steps and intermediate file handling. These workflows can introduce complexity, increase processing time, and create inconsistencies between users and projects.

MCCT replaces these legacy approaches with a streamlined workflow that operates directly on block models through Block Model Manager. By combining calculation and coding into a single process, users can perform model updates without exporting, processing, and re-importing data.

The new tool supports:

  • QuickCalc for straightforward calculations
  • Python 3.13.7 for advanced logic and automation
  • Filtering to target specific model areas
  • Partials (%) for proportional calculations

These capabilities allow engineers and geologists to apply more sophisticated calculations directly within the model environment while maintaining consistency and improving execution speed.

Faster workflows across MinePlan

Performance remains a key focus for mining professionals working with large datasets and complex evaluations. This release delivers improvements across several core MinePlan applications, helping users interact with models and analyse results more efficiently.

Enhancements have been delivered across:

  • Blast
  • Project Evaluator
  • Model Views

These updates reduce wait times during everyday tasks, improve responsiveness, and support faster iteration when evaluating alternatives or refining plans. The result is a smoother user experience and more productive workflows throughout the planning process.

Supporting better mining decisions

As mining operations continue their digital transformation journeys, the ability to evaluate options quickly and work directly with trusted data becomes increasingly important.

The latest MinePlan release addresses these needs with tools that simplify scenario management, modernise model calculation and coding workflows, and improve performance where users need it most.

By reducing complexity and increasing efficiency, these enhancements help teams focus on what matters: making confident, data-driven decisions that improve productivity and maximise value across the mining value chain.
